Unicorn and FinnCap will "inevitably" merge after the former's founder Peter Webb became chairman of the stockbroker last week. However, the Unicorn chief executive will focus on growing the businesses separately for the time being as he said a merger in the current environment is not ideal. "After a rocky year, the growth of Unicorn needs to be stabilised," he added. "It is my ambition to build a substantial financial services group by combining the two interests but now is not the right time."
