Funds in the North American Smaller Companies sector returned better than any other peer group in May, according to Morningstar. Small-cap vehicles investing the US returned, on average, 3.99% whilst most of the top-selling sectors on Fidelity FundsNetwork were not even amongst the top 10 sectors with the highest returns. North American Smaller Companies was followed by Technology and Telecomms funds with 3.59%, Global Emerging Markets with 3.15%, UK Smaller Companies with 2.55% and Europe including UK with 2.08%, all sectors that have not been popular with investors in recent times.
