A sluggish start for the Dow Jones on the last trading week for 2008 has slowed FTSE advances this afternoon; with London's blue chip index now just 59.56 points higher, or 1.41%, to 4,276.15. The FTSE was over 100 points ahead this morning, led by strong gains in the mining and oil sectors. Mining giants Vedanta and Eurasian are still among the top performers, up 5.66% and 5.34% respectively. It is the Royal Bank of Scotland leading the way however, with reports linking the Standard Chartered boss to its top job sending its stock 8.43% ahead to 46.30p. Property-related groups Hammers...
