The European Commission has admitted it will miss its deadline to publish a draft EU directive outlining plans for the anticipated Ucits IV fund structure. The draft was expected on 30 April. The EC reportedly refused to rule-out speculation it will abandon the plans entirely last week, saying commissioner for internal markets Charlie McCreevy is considering his options based on early discussions. The plans aim to streamline intra-continental fund sales but have raised fears individual regulators will be bypassed.
