Threadneedle is in talks to merge its Property Unit Trust with a real estate fund offered by Protego. The proposed merger would protect existing investors of the Protego UK Property fund which has fallen to £61m, with Threadneedle’s Don Jordison remaining as manager. Protego said, in common with other property funds, it has suffered a significant number of redemptions and the costs of running such a small fund is negatively impacting its performance and distribution yield.
