Recent political instability in Russia has provided the perfect buying opportunity, according to Gartmore’s head of emerging markets Chris Palmer. “Russia is undergoing some profound changes,” he said. “We have never seen so many assets go down so fast, which is why the country is a good entry point into emerging markets right now.” Palmer is convinced there is a strong valuation story in emerging markets and claims earnings power and quality of assets has not changed despite difficult market conditions.
