SVM's Lawson: Positive discrimination is not the way to tackle diversity

Margaret Lawson, founding director of SVM Asset Management, speaks to Tom Eckett about the biggest risks to the market, the state of the UK economy and the ways in which the asset management industry can improve diversity.

Margaret Lawson, who has 38 years' experience in asset management, joined SVM as a founding director in 1990 from FS Assurance, where she was lead manager of the FS Balanced Growth fund. As well as co-managing the £199m SVM UK Growth fund, Lawson also runs the SVM UK Emerging fund. According to FE, the UK Growth fund has returned 30.7% over the past three years versus 25.2% for the IA UK All Companies sector and 29% from the FTSE All Share, as at 6 August.  What is your investment philosophy?
