The kings of virtual reality: UK gaming sector in the spotlight

The UK is home to a world-leading computer games industry, and with the help of venture capital investors, local developers have recently brought virtual reality games to the public for the first time. Annabelle Williams speaks to Mercia Fund Management's Mike Hayes, who backed the launch.

The UK ranks among the top three nations in the world - including the US and Japan - for video game development. Last year, the government sought to support the thriving sector by bringing in tax relief for companies creating computer games. British expertise in gaming technology goes back to the 1980s, when the BBC partnered with Acorn to bring some of the earliest home computers to market.
