After years spent at the margins of conventional investing, infrastructure is returning to favour.

Investor interest has been piqued by the attractive dividends on offer and governments around the world promising to support infrastructure upgrades. This has further raising the profile of the sector and over the last two years, the MSCI ACWI Infrastructure index has risen steadily, reaching 890.7 on 15 October, from 729 on 29 November 2011. According to Prequin’s 2013 Global Alternatives Report, investors are becoming more confident about investing in this comparatively young asset class.
