The three months to the end of October 2008 were grim for investors in European equity funds. In the mainstream sector, the median pan-Europe fund lost 23.4% while the median Europe ex-UK and Euroland funds lost, respectively, 24.3% and 24.6%. This brought the year-to-date losses to 39.1% for pan-Europe, 39.2% for Europe ex-UK and 40.8% for Euroland. Investors in European small-caps fared even worse.
