Investors need to work harder and cannot simply play glib and oft-repeated investment themes to beat the market, Cesar Perez, head of European equities at M&G Investments, told delegates at a recent Investment Week conference. In the European market, the three most commonly touted investment themes are the recovery of capital expenditure, the ageing population and the vast amount of corporate restructuring.
