A top 100 law firm has criticised mortgage brokers for not taking sufficient advice on forthcoming regulation and leaving them little time to go directly authorised. Philip Tebbatt, partner at Clarke Willmott, said: "The surprising thing is how few people in the industry are taking advice, particularly brokers." Tebbatt said the real worry is not in getting application forms prepared and passed by the FSA but in making brokers aware of the cultural change that lies ahead and ascertaining if current business processes will stand up to regulation.
