With the near meltdown of the global financial markets, some large banks going into administration or being bailed out by central governments and the mortgage market virtually shutting down, both residential and commercial property prices have plummeted. With the UK, most of Europe, the US and Japan now in recession for at least a number of quarters, further falls in value are likely during 2009 before there is any sign of recovery in the property market.
