Ireland's regulator has approved the inclusion of hedge fund indices as eligible assets for vehicles operating under Ucits III framework. The Committee of European Securities Regulators (Cesr) ruled last July that hedge fund indices are suitable for Ucits III funds, paving the way for retail investment in products based on such benchmarks. Dublin's regulator has now made use of these powers by allowing Ucits funds to invest in the FTSE Hedge Global and Hedge Momentum indices.
