With the 31 January deadline approaching for discussion on the Government’s Individual Savings Accounts: proposed reforms, industry members are expecting an imminent Treasury announcement. Peter Shipp, technical director at Pima, said the industry will remain in an uncertain state until the announcement but added he is hopeful of an announcement within days of the 31 January deadline. “At this point, we are unsure whether new Isa rules will be implemented on 6 April 2007 or 6 April 2008 and this leaves the industry in a state of flux wondering when the new rules will apply,” he said.
