Asia is continuing to generate its own growth through private consumption and intra-regional trade and tourism, according to Jason Pidcock, Asia fund manager at Newton. Pidcock manages the £85m Newton Asian Income and the £380m Newton Oriental funds, which are both predominantly invested within Asia Pacific. Since its launch on December 1 2005, Newton Asian fund has achieved bid-to-bid returns of 14.16% against a peer group average of 19.68%, according to Standard & Poor’s.
