Caspar Trenchard has been moving to consolidate the First State British Opportunities fund since he took over its management last August 2005 in addition to increasing the tracking error on the portfolio. The fund’s long term performance leaves little to be desired, making a loss of 2%, before charges, for the five years to 26 June 2006, according to Standard & Poors, against a sector average of 22.7% ranking it 206 out of 212 funds.
