In March 2012 we marked the year anniversary of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami which hit Japan.
The island of Honshu was shifted 8ft to the East and the earth’s axis shifted with estimates ranging up to 25cm. The volatile economic activity we saw in the country throughout 2011 can be principally attributed to this, and now there are encouraging signs for the return of growth this year with better than expected GDP data. Japan is also surrounded by countries with double digit growth with burgeoning middle classes ready to import Japan’s goods. So is now the time to look beyond those faster growing economies in Asia and start thinking seriously again about investing in Japan? ...
