All eyes have been on the US recently. Attention quickly switched from whether the US might default on its debt to the consequences of the default being avoided. Any conclusion was inevitably going to result in a weakening of US economic activity at some point in the future as the balance sheet is rebuilt. While it is impossible to argue that a slowing US economy is good for any region, it is quite plausible to suggest that Asia can emerge as a relative winner.
