SVM UK Alpha launched in 2005 and has proved itself a solid performer by maintaining top-quartile returns. The £20.7m fund is headed up by Hector Kilpatrick, with the group's founder, Colin McLean, acting as deputy. The fund's managers choose stocks from a full range of UK equities regardless of their market capitalisation, focusing on those overlooked or ignored by analysts. Over 12 months to 21 January, the vehicle has returned 0.1% bid to bid against a UK All Companies sector average of -5.7%, ranking 36 out of 309 in the peer group.
