James Buckley generates top-decile returns on Baring European Growth Trust during his three-year tenure playing the materials theme
Since taking on the Baring European Growth Trust three years ago, James Buckley has turned the underperforming vehicle he inherited from Simon Hallett into a top-decile performer. In the first six weeks, he turned over half of the portfolio and altered the weightings to reflect his views. Over three years to 30 June, the fund has returned 54.5% bid to bid compared to the Europe ex-UK sector average of 39.4%, according to Morningstar. This ranks eighth out of 86 vehicles.
