CF Ruffer, Neptune and Newton managers concur that light weighting in financials and UK property has cushioned their portfolios from the crisis

As with the majority of sectors, the top-performing funds in the Balanced Managed sector have all avoided financials in recent years. The top returner was CF Ruffer European, managed by Tim Youngman, which has produced a massive 82.42% over three years to end June. The second best fund was the Neptune Balanced vehicle headed up by Robin Geffen, which produced 41.81%. Other top offerings include CF Milton Special Situations portfolio, CF Arch Cru Balanced and Newton Balanced.
