Scottish Widows and Invesco Perpetual vehicles head up disparate sector, boosted by strong macroeconomic background in Brazil and Mexico
The Specialist sector is something of a dumping ground for funds that either have a narrow single theme or do not otherwise fit with the mainstream peer groups. In addition to property, the sector contains funds specialising in areas like biotechnology, gold and natural resources, health and pharmaceuticals and overseas single countries.
