New Star Global Strategic Capital and Unvestec Managed Growth both benefit from investment trust holdings
Investing in closed-ended vehicles has boosted the performance of at least two funds in the Active Managed sector, according to their managers. New Star's Paul Craig and Investec's Philip Saunders said the favourable sector backdrop and structures of investment trusts helped their funds move into top five positions in the sector over three years to the end of October. An equity bull market and strong diversification have also added to the funds' outperformance.
