A global fund manager's investment style can broadly be divided into two camps: bottom-up stockpicker or top-down asset allocator. Some managers eschew asset allocation, focusing instead on the quality of a company, regardless of geography, to generate long-term returns. Others prefer to use asset allocation calls as the starting point when constructing their portfolio.
