Water companies appear to be holding up relatively well in current markets and are being touted by fund managers as a shrewd long-term investment. While stocks have suffered globally and much of the environmental sector has had a torrid time, financing in the water sector is widely thought to be intact, despite falls in valuations. As such, managers deem water a compelling story, with its scarcity and questionable quality creating sound fundamentals, and the sector's stability and green credentials adding to its appeal.
