BlackRock has hired Hilary Lopez as head of European wealth, based in London.
Lopez will re-join the asset management giant later this year, BlackRock told Investment Week, and will report to head of UK and Europe client business Sarah Melvin.

She will join from Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM), where she served as a partner and head of EMEA third party wealth business since 2021.
At GSAM, she was responsible for a team of 100 professionals, overseeing the presentation of the firm's investment capabilities to current and prospective clients.
Before joining GSAM, Lopez spent more than a decade at BNY Mellon Investment Management in a range of senior roles including managing director, member of the executive committee and head of intermediary distribution for Europe and Latin America.

Investment Week understands GSAM's third party wealth team will continue to be led by Bryon Lake and Padideh Raphael following Lopez's departure, as the firm focuses on expanding its international business, especially alternatives and ETF solutions, including via the recent hire of Brett Olson as head of international ETFs.
