Value of UK venture capital funding deals halves in 2023

The disclosed value of UK venture capital funding deals dropped by more than half between January and August 2023 compared to last year, although the UK remains a top five global market for VC fundraising.

The UK witnessed 898 venture capital funding deals in the first eight months of 2023, a 27.2% drop in volume compared to the same period in 2022, according to research by GlobalData. Funding deals totalled $8.7bn for the period, registering a 52.6% decline versus the same period last year, a "significantly steeper" fall, the group said.
