It may be less than a week since Gordon Brown’s visit to Her Majesty, but the collective public groans over the wall-to-wall coverage are already beginning. There is only so much voters can take of politicians desperately trying to avoid making firm pledges on where they intend to cut public services, while admitting they will have to.
