As an industry, we have always been scared about having real debates about the issues that affect us all. When I say a debate, I mean one where people disagree with each because they are passionate about the issues, and not afraid to criticise. There's nothing wrong with criticism as long as it's not personal or totally self-interested. Usually if you disagree with someone or something is this industry, they flounce off like petulant schoolkids and won't speak to you for years to come, or in my case, say "you don't know what you're talking about, you're just a journalist."
