Nomura Asset Management UK (NAM UK) has hired former Kames Capital head Peter Ball as managing director.
Ball left Kames in January where he had worked for four years as head of global distribution and director of institutional business.
Prior to joining Kames, Ball was head of investment at JLT Employee Benefits and spent 13 years at J.P.Morgan Asset Management. In total, he has 30 years' experience in the industry.
At Nomura, he will be responsible for all aspects of distribution and client relations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Ball's hire indicates the firm, which is headquartered in Tokyo, is looking at expanding its presence in the EMEA region.
Richard Bisson, chief executive of NAM UK, said: "I am delighted to welcome Peter to Nomura. His long track record and experience of launching, selling and marketing sophisticated investment solutions and leading global distribution teams will be enormously beneficial as NAM UK looks at ways to enhance its services."
Ball commented: "I am very much looking forward to joining the team at Nomura and building on the success of the firm globally. Taking the firm's EMEA expansion to the next level is a very exciting prospect."
