Jupiter has appointed former Barings manager Mitesh Patel as an assistant on Dan Carter's two Japan funds, following the departure of Simon Somerville earlier this year.
Patel joins on 3 October and will work on the £570m Jupiter Japan Income fund and $37.1m Jupiter Japan Select SICAV. He has been investment manager for Japanese equities at Baring Asset Management since 2013, and previously spent three years at BlackRock Investment Management on its global equities and UK equities teams. Carter (pictured) has managed the Jupiter Japan Select SICAV fund since 2013 and became lead manager of the Jupiter Japan Income fund in May this year, when former lead manager on the fund, Somerville, left the group.
