Miliband, Clegg, and Farage step down as party leaders

Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg, and Nigel Farage have all resigned after suffering election defeat at the hands of the Conservatives.

Labour party leader Miliband held his Doncaster North seat, while Liberal Democrat leader and deputy prime minister Clegg held on to his seat in Sheffield Hallam, but UKIP leader Farage lost his South Thanet seat to the Conservatives. Farage was the first to announce his resignation, though he did leave the door open to another run for Parliament in future. Clegg then stepped down as Lib Dem leader, soon followed by Miliband, who said he took "absolute and total responsibility" for Labour's defeat.
