Aviva Investors hires ex-GARS manager for new product push

Aviva Investors has appointed Ian Pizer from Standard Life Investments' GARS team as senior asset manager on its multi-asset team, led by Peter Fitzgerald.

Ian was a portfolio manager on SLI's Global Absolute Return Strategies (GARS) fund, as well as its Absolute Return Bond strategy. In his previous role he worked closely with Euan Munro (pictured), one of the original architects of GARS, who announced his departure from SLI in July and officially joined Aviva Investors as CEO at the start of the year. In February, Investment Week revealed Munro is planning a low volatility absolute return fund to rival GARS, but no further details have been revealed to date.
