Pfizer has revealed it was rebuffed once again by AstraZeneca over the weekend about a potential takeover of the UK company, with the latter's shares soaring in early trading today in reaction.
Following a January approach revealed over Easter Bank Holiday, the US pharmaceuticals giant confirmed it had re-contacted AstraZeneca this weekend, only to have its approach rejected once again. It said: "In light of recent market developments, Pfizer contacted AstraZeneca on 26 April 2014 seeking to renew discussions in order to develop a proposal that could be recommended by both companies to their shareholders. AstraZeneca again declined to engage. Pfizer is currently considering its options with respect to AstraZeneca." The UK firm's shares jumped dramatically this morning to £46...
