Threadneedle China manager Chan exits to take career break

Gigi Chan, manager of the top performing Threadneedle China Opportunities fund, has left the group to take a career break, Investment Week can reveal.

Chan (pictured) has run China Opps since its launch in 2007 and delivered triple digit returns since then, her fund beating rivals such as Aberdeen, Henderson and Jupiter. The portfolio will now be taken over by Vanessa Donegan, head of Threadneedle's London-based Asian equities team. Donegan, who also runs the flagship Threadneedle Asia portfolio, saw her team strengthened last month with the addition of five new hires in the group's Asia office.
