Investec Bank takes to the skies with aircraft finance fund


Investec Bank is offering investors looking for alternative investment ideas the opportunity to invest in a new fleet of aircraft.

The group's Aviation Finance arm said today it has closed the first raising for the Investec Aircraft Syndicate Limited (IASL) after raising $500m. However, it is planning to launch a second tranche shortly, with plans to invest the proceeds in "next generation" aircraft which are leased to leading airlines around the globe. It is targeting a high single digit yield paid from the proceeds from the leases, with the planes selected by Ramki Sundaram and David Phillips, two senior members of Investec's Aviation Finance division.
