F&C launches absolute return real estate fund

F&C Investments is launching a pan-European property securities long short fund, to be managed by Marcus Phayre-Mudge and Raymond Lahaut, Investment Week has learnt.

The F&C Real Estate Equity Long Short fund, a UCITS version of the Cayman Islands domiciled Thames River Longstone fund, is slated to launch later this year. The fund will invest in listed real estate securities, aiming to generate an annual return of 8%-10% net of fees. It will be managed on an absolute return basis, with net exposure ranging from -30% to +30%. Phayre-Mudge, co-manager of the fund, heads up the Thames River Property team, while Lahaut, also co-manager, is lead manager of the Longstone fund.
