Asia markets climb on Fed QE signal

Asian markets climbed overnight on indicators the Federal Reserve may initiate further quantitative easing, after initially putting plans on ice.

Markets were buoyed after $3trn was wiped off global stock market values so far this month, as the eurozone crisis and Greece's exit from the euro is absorbed into the markets.  The MSCI Asia Pacific index rose 0.9% yesterday, its biggest increase in almost a month, and the Shanghai index was up 1.48% to 2,380.87. The Nikkei 225 also gained 0.86% to 8,876.59. Minutes from the Fed's last policy meeting revealed some policymakers were in favour of further easing should the US economic recovery falter.
