FTSE responds after Wall Street's 3% surge

Miners and banks are driving the FTSE upwards this morning, as London's leading shares continue to rebound on the back of Wall Street's stellar showing yesterday.

As at 11.00, the FTSE was up 1.09%, or 54 points, to 5069. Aggreko, up 4.4%, is leading the pack, with Xstrata also up more than 3%. Lloyds Banking Group - which was added to the EU's list of banks to undergo stress-testing - is up 3.01%, as financials gain on news US manager State Street is set to post higher-than-expected second-quarter earnings. Royal Bank of Scotland and Barclays are also up as the banking sector drives upwards ahead of the Bank of England's interest rate decision.
