Premier Asset Management has hired former Gartmore UK equity manager Simon King to run two funds.
King will take over responsibility for the £62m UK Thematic vehicle from Mike Jennings. UK Thematic is a focused fund, typically holding 35 to 40 large- and mid-cap holdings. He will also run the £21 UK Smaller Companies, currently managed by Chris Wright. Premier bought the funds as part of an acquisition of 10 vehicles from Aberdeen Asset Management in July. Jennings will continue to run the Managed Assets, Global DSR and European growth funds while Wright will remain at the helm of the Optimum Income, Fellowship and UK Mid 250 mandates.
