Morningstar maintains BlackRock ratings on Birch funds

Morningstar has confirmed it will make no change to its ratings for the BlackRock funds formerly managed by Graham Birch following his decision not to return to the company.

Morningstar says it will maintain its Elite ratings on BlackRock Gold & General, BGF World Gold and BGF World Mining and Superior ratings on BGF World Energy and BGF New Energy. Evy Hambro and Robin Batchelor will become permanent as co-heads of the natural resources equity team, having taken these roles in a temporary capacity on Birch's departure in March 2009. There will be no additional changes to management on the funds run by the team. Birch had been due to return from a 12-month sabbatical in March 2010.
