Gartmore appoints new head of Asian equities

Gartmore has appointed Threadneedle fund manager Jan de Bruijn as head of Asian equities.

Bruijn will report to Gartmore's head of global emerging markets, Chris Palmer, and is expected to join the firm in early 2010. He will also assume management of the £100m Gartmore Pacific Opportunities fund, currently managed by Mike Gleason, and the Gartmore Sicav Asia Pacific fund. Bruijn will also provide specialist regional support on the Asian component of the Global Emerging Market mandates managed by Palmer, and enable the development of an alternative business in Asian equities.
