Harrison moves UK Equity Alpha across broader themes

Threadneedle's Leigh Harrison is moving his portfolio into a broader range of sectors as he believes investment themes will become less clear cut.

The UK Equity Alpha manager, who is also head of UK equities at the group, says stock selection will become more important than themes, and has shifted his portfolio towards a more balanced position as a result. “Following the outperformance of defensive sectors early in the year and the rotation into higher beta and more highly geared areas during the rally, sector themes are now less clear-cut,” he says.   “We are identifying good opportunities in defensive and cyclical areas, and believe that stock selection will be the key driver of performance from here.” Harrison still ha...
