Growth stocks could see a return to favour in the US as difficult trading conditions continue, says Threadneedle's Cormac Weldon.
The group's head of US equities points in particular to those companies with a strong competitive advantage which are able to generate earnings even in challenging economic times. "These were stocks that tended to fare best at the beginning of the year and at the tail end of 2008, when market conditions were particularly bad," he says. Weldon says there are a number of industries he believes have the potential to do relatively well in the challenging conditions ahead.
