Merrill Lynch small-cap specialist Richard Plackett is to revamp his £105m UK Value fund into a special situations vehicle. Unitholders will be asked to back a change of investment policy that will see 60%-70% of the fund invested in small and mid-cap stocks, with the rest in FTSE 100 names. The change is intended to entice investors that are attracted to small and mid-cap companies but too cautious to commit themselves completely to the sector.
