Holdings going into administration and an ever-rising oil price provided a tough background for the Smaller Companies Value Trust over the last 12 months. Manager Gregor Macdonald, from Swip said while the short-term economic outlook in the UK is far from favourable, many small and medium-sized firms are trading at their most attractive valuations in several years.
