I don't believe the stock market is a place for impatience. Tolerating shorter-term trauma is an integral part of investing in the stock market – it's called risk. Since 1920 there have been 31 years when the stock market has fallen. Also, around a quarter of all three- and five-year holding periods have experienced losses. Recent experience should reinforce the requirement for patience: an investment in the stock market starting in 1997, 1998, 1999 or 2000 would have suffered capital loss if cashed in five years later.
