JO Hambro Capital Management (JOHCM) has poached John Wood from Newton to recreate his UK Opportunities fund. Wood will join former Newton colleague Clive Beagles at the boutique, marking JO Hambro's second hiring of a Newton manager. Wood has managed the Newton fund since launch in February 2002 alongside Ben Russon who takes his place in charge of the portfolio. Now with £111m of assets, Newton UK Opportunities returned 60.3% bid to bid over the three years to 18 July, although the vehicle has fared less well in recent months, ranking 220 out of 300 funds in the UK All Companies sector ...
