Investment trust managers look cautious on global equity markets with gearing levels trending downwards. The moves can also be attributed to an overall wariness of the vehicles to take on debt post-2001. Average gearing levels across most AITC sectors decreased between June 2005 and December 2005, a trend that has continued into 2006, with just a number of country-specific peer groups, such as Japanese Smaller Companies, Europe and Far East, seeing increases.
